Total Loss Assistance

The Total Loss Process (Simplified)

It is safe to say that insurance is a fairly complicated subject and most people struggle with understanding the in's and out's when it comes time to make a claim.

At a very basic level, your insurance company will deem your vehicle a total loss if:

They will run a report, typically through third party data aggregators, to determine a pre-accident value and make you a settlement offer to basically buy back the damaged vehicle at the pre-damaged price. If you accept, they will issue you payment and they become the owners of the vehicle.

Once they make their settlement offer, you will given a fixed period of time to accept their offer after which they will require the rental back or its continued use will be your responsibility.

If you feel their offer should be higher, you have the right to request credible data to demonstrate how they arrived at that value.

How We Help

Most people have never been through a total loss before and therefore may have questions, concerns and objections about their claim for which they need objective answers. That's where we come in.

We are consumer advocates and believe that everyone should receive a fair settlement value. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen.

With over 18 years' experience in vehicle buying, valuation, and insurance appraisal, as well as training insurance companies on how to value vehicles and settle claims fairly, we can help.

We will thoroughly review their offer to determine if it is fair by determining whether they are using relevant vehicles as comparisons or if the comparisons are selected to justify their valuation. We also look at mileage allowances and other factors to ensure they meet industry standards. For example, even a penny difference in mileage allowance can result in hundreds of dollars in the settlement value.

If we feel that the offer is low, we will provide you with our Professional Opinion to argue for a higher value.
